These are my latest Christmas Card set. there are five cards in total, and each one is absolutely gorgeous! So funky and festive.
This card has a simple 5x5 black base. I couldn't find my Spellbinders so I cut the scallop circle out by hand from pink alligator effect paper. A 3" circle punched from the same shade of pink paper as the background and has a glittered pink card lace design glued on.
This one I'm still not sure about. I started by punching out a circle of pink card and used my black ink and the reverse of the pink lace cardstock (I haven't checked, but I hope the front will be ink free so I can still use it on some card). The pink and black dotted paper (which reminds me of some ribbon I once had), the dots are from my latest embossing folder. I 'colored' the dots in with black pen. Once again, the scalloped circle is cut by hand, with a bit of doodling too.
This was the first card. The folds are slightly different than from a normal tent fold card. The circle holding the paua shell koru (the swirly shape) is on a piece of circle chipboard, and acts as holding the card closed. The 'Thinking of You' shape is matted on a piece of green card and a piece of the black card.
The koru (swirly shape) is the left over from the card above. There are seven layers on this card. Black card, teal double sided card, fern patterned paper, flax patterned paper, a chipboard square, shiny metalic blue paper (which is also the envelope) and a paua shell koru shape.
I cut the fern patterned paper the wrong size on this. I cut it square instead of rectangle. But it worked out fine, because the dark teal card covers the rest of the card, with two pieces of ribbon. The simple decorations are circle flax paper and three small paua shell pieces.
So, this card is for a challenge via the sweetest thing blog. Since the sketch was posted I've been trying to come up with a design that I like. And I just got this one done. I was going to use a stamped flower, but I really wanted to use some ribbon! and I didn't have any ribbon that matches any patterned paper.
This is the second time that I've used this silver fern ribbon. For some reason I really want to do a Kiwi card. (Silver Fern and sheep...) The stamped sheep are a set of two from Rubbabubbdoo. This is the bottom one.
What color are sheep? I wasn't sure if I should color the sheep or not, so I left them. Still need to practice my coloring skills.
My brother took these photographs before he left for the traveling around the world thing, so they are the most recent ones I have of my dad and the house/garden I grew up in.
The feeling I wanted was of a warm sunny garden... a little vintage... I'm still not sure how to describe it.
I knew which alphabet letters I wanted to use, and as soon i pulled out the letters for "dad" I knew to use "garden". And hand write "and his".
This morning I actually got round to organizing my cards. It was nice and sunny, so I took all the boxes in front of the big lounge window and tried to come up with some organized order. All cards are in groups in big plastic baggies.
And now, instead of a draw in a plastic storage unit and two shoe boxes, these cards now fit in a draw of my plastic storage unit and the supplies and tags (which can easily get lost) are in a shoe box.
I'm trying to get my newsletter ready to be sent out. I only have 2 people signed up so far. The sign up box is up there ----> I think that is the most reliable one. I tried another provider but it seems more difficult to get all done.
Still celebrating my stores First Birthday!
I had to go to the dentist today, so that took an hour out of my craft time. I made sure to get a couple wonderful Christmas card sets made.
I would love to get everyone in the world sending handmade Christmas cards this year. Do you think that would ever actually happen?
And this is Flipper the Cuttlebug, or Flip for short. Another great new toy.
It cuts out shapes and embosses papers, thin metal, ribbon and a bunch of other stuff. My mom and I are going to a class at our LSS in a couple weeks to learn all the things you can do with this.
Those are photographs that my brother took of my dads house/garden. I love how overgrown the whole place is. (I haven't seen it in maybe five years, and things still look pretty much the same).
Happy Birthday PnkGeeni!
